Hello YouTubers, a video on my homemade hydraulic log splitter doing some splittin’ at the woodpile. Constructed from materials laying around the house, and other places, with hydraulics purchased from Northern Hydraulics. Built around a 4 X 8 steel “I” beam my splitter features a 26 ton ram, 2 stage hydraulic pump, and powered by a good old gasoline 4 cycle Briggs & Stratton 6 HP with a OHV engine off of a pressure washer, it is portable as well (low speeds) with a 1 7/8″ tow hitch, and tires off of a riding lawnmower. I built this monster about 11 years ago, and it has provided me with awesome dependable performance thru the years, if I had to guess I have probably split over 30 true cords of wood with it!! The 6 HP Briggs engine provides great power, and quick cycling, to the 2 stage hydraulic pump powering and busting thru the hardest of woods like Locust, Cherry, Red and White Oak, knots are a joke as well-its’ UNSTOPPABLE! and fun!
