I have a 20 ton wood splitter with a 5 HP Tecumseh gasoline engine. It is very hard starting when cold. Has a?
In looking int the Tecumseh web site I found not too good of reputation for their engines inmost cases. Is ther any one out there that has found a cure for the problem. Of course with no choke lever I stand there and pump on the primer button to keep it running for way too long of time.

sounds to me like the carburator may need adjusting. Like the mixture screw. Also check the fuel lines and tank for cloggs. Not getting enough fuel. Hope this helps.
I have had a few tecumseh engines, had problems with every one of them. Sorry I dont have an answer, other than not to buy another tecumseh engine.
