I just bought mine and have split enough Elm to fill the bed of a full sized pick up to the top rail. One thing I don’t like is the tubes are getting dented. I also thought it was having issues but found that when I was using it in the truck the wedge side was lower than the ram side and when the piston was 2/3 extended it basically was running out of oil. Turned it around and no more problems.

I have the same splitter and its 3 years old now and i have easily split over 20 cords with it, maple and and red oak, even splits sweet gum. Make sure the vent screw is open on the end of the splitter………

my dad has to change the fluid on his gas splitter every 40 hours or so.. its maintenance

I have the same splitter and it worked fine for about 20 hours. The performance decreased and now (at 50 hours) it is a piece of junk. It will not split 6″ pine! I called the service department and they were no help at all. “Change the oil. If that does not work then have it serviced.”
How many others here have the same problem?

I know they do i just got my new electric 6ton from Northern and i love it.

I split 3/4 cord of wild cherry with this little monster. Some logs had to be fip-flopped or rolled but all but 6 logs were split. I store it in the basement next to the stove so I can make kindling and instantly split logs that are too big. *NOTE: I FORGOT to open the bleed valve for the first 3 hrs of splitting. So, I stood it upright and ran the hammer all the way up 5 times, and bled the system. It’s working fine. No apparent damage. Seems to be OK. That mistake won’t EVER happen again! LOL
